Music
While attending art school, I had a teacher who encouraged us to listen to music without singing while working in our studio. At the time, I thought it was a great idea and had the best intentions to put her advice into action. But, I was young. The words of wisdom escaped my mind as soon as I left the class that afternoon.
Years later, while painting in my studio. I began to have trouble concentrating when I would hear people talk or sing. I would drift off into past conversations or transport myself to the future. My monkey brain would go into overdrive.
At the beginning of this year, my teacher's voice popped into my head, and I remembered what she had suggested all those years ago.
Well, all I can say is that it was great advice. Here are a few albums that have kept me calm and inspired my work this year.
Sam Gendel
Till Bronner
